NT Darwin Shopping

Darwin City

In the city centre you’ll find a range of specialty shops centred around Smith Street Mall. Many arcades link surrounding streets and it is worth looking around the numerous art and craft shops for interesting Aboriginal work. Look for shops with good local designs reflecting Darwin’s casual and relaxed atmosphere. Especially busy is the backpacker area of Mitchell Street, where tour desks, trendy eateries and lodges jostle for attention.

Casuarina Square

The Northern Territory’s largest shopping mall is located in Darwin’s northern suburbs. Casuarina Square houses 175 specialty shops, including seven jewellers, gift outlets, electrical retailers, bookshops and fashion chains such as Canterbury, Cue, Just Jeans, Sportsgirl and Lowes. There are also banks, cafe and restaurants, a post office, travel agents and major retailers such as Big W, K Mart and Best & Less. As well, there is sevenscreen cinema complex. You could spend a day here and still not get to every shop.

Karama Shopping Centre

Karama has a 24-hour Coles supermarket, newsagency, video shop, several takeaways, an extended hours post office, drive-in bottle shop and pharmacy. There is also a family restaurant and tavern.
Kalymnos Drive, Karama; open daily

Palmerston Shopping Centre

Situated in fast-growing suburban Palmerston, a city in its own right, this shopping complex has an extended hours post office, newsagent, chemists, bookshop and a range of cafe and restaurants. There is also a Target store and a 24-hour’s Coles supermarket.
