Mt Field National Park Camp Sites

Mt Field National Park is just over one hour's drive from Hobart via New Norfolk. From Hobart, take the Brooker Highway (A10) north-west to New Norfolk. After New Norfolk you can follow the road on either side of the Derwent River (the A10 or B62) until you reach Westerway. From there it is a short drive along a winding bitumen road to the small township of National Park and the clearly marked entrance to Mt Field National Park.

Camping and caravan facilities are available near the park entrance. The campground is set in a pleasant forest by the Tyena River. It has excellent facilities, including 14 powered sites, a toilet and shower block with coin-operated washing machines and clothes driers and a communal cooking shelter with free electric barbeques and sink with hot water.

The huts provide low cost, basic accommodation for visitors and small groups. They comprise five small vertical board huts accommodating six persons each. The complex includes a communal toilet facility as well as a woodshed and water tank (but no showers). Facilities are minimal, consisting of bunks with mattresses, cold water and sink, wood heater, table and benches. There is no electricity, gas or other services and parties must be self-reliant.  Gas cookers and lamps are recommended, as well as the usual camping provisions.
