Overview of Capricorn Coast Region

Overview of region towns

Queensland's Capricorn Coast is several hundred kilometres north of Brisbane. The Capricorn Coast is home to an array of breathtaking beaches and incredible natural landscapes.

The area is also the gateway to some of the most beautiful islands anywhere in the world! The islands are a great place to stay, offering everything from world class resorts to camping sites, all located on the southern ends of the reef. Whether you prefer to laze on the golden sands or snorkelling amongst the colourful coral and marine life you won't be disappointed.

Back on the mainland, the capricorn coast has the spectacular towns of Agnes Waters and Seventeen Seventy.

The coast's largest city is Rockhampton. With plenty of hotels, motels, backpackers and restaurants, Rockhampton is perfect for a rest while exploring the regions many attractions. West of Rockhampton you will discover the region's gemfields - towns such as Emerald, Anakie and Rubyvale. The national parks of Carnarvon Gorge and Blackdown Tableland are also within a short distance, and provide a lush and tropical escape from a landscape which is home to some of the best sunsets you'll see anywhere in Australia.
