Located
393 kms NW of Sydney. Quirindi is regarded as the home of polo, which has
a long history in the district and has produced one of the world's most famous
polo players, Sinclair Hill. The Tamarang Club was formed in 1888 and was
later immortalised by Banjo Paterson in his poem, the Geebung Polo Club. Since
1893, matches have been played on Quirindi's polo ground and every August,
the town hosts a Polo Carnival. The area also lays claim to being the best
sunflower producing district in the country. Local farmers have won Australia-wide
contests for sunflower production
