The
Kianga Memorial Hall outside Moura and a bronze statue in the town commemorate
the 36 men who have died at the coal face. Although just about every family
has been touched by the mining tragedies, coal is not the only attraction
in Moura.
The town has a grain storage capacity of 192,000 tonnes which makes it the
second largest wheat dump in Queensland, while between 800 and 1200 head of
cattle pass through the Mopura saleyards at the fortnightly sale.
Apex Park, 10km out of town, provides BBQs and other picnic facilities on
the banks of the Dawson River which attracts swimmers and fishermen.
