Bicheno is one of Tasmania's most popular holiday destinations. It started life as a sealing and whaling town and now is a coal mining port. Fairy penguins can be observed on nearby Diamond Island. North of Bicheno is the Douglas-Apsley National Park. It has a dry eucalypt forest,and it has numerous scenic attractions, from Heritage Falls to calm water holes.
