There
is plenty of wide open space in this enormous semi-arid park. The rolling
red sand dunes of the Strzelecki Desert ripple through the western section,
graduating past surprising wetlands, over the famous Jump-Up country, through
remnant Gidgee Woodland and vast stone-covered plains in the east. 400-million-year-old
granite tors surround Tibooburra. Hardy local residents include red and grey
kangaroos, emus and a huge diversity of reptiles and birds
