Noosa

A little piece of exclusive suburbia located on the Sunshine Coast.

Noosa, located 146 km north of Brisbane, was originally a sleepy little village beside the sea known only to a few fishermen and beachcombers.

Hastings Street, Noosa has retained a village atmosphere and is the place to be seen !

Noosa inland comprises of the historical and enchanting cottage towns of Cooroy, Eumundi, Cooran, Kin Kin, and Pomona. Into the hills and behind Noosa is the Blackall Range where the delightful towns of Flaxton, Mappleton, Montville, and Maleny can be found. Art galleries, craft shops, and restaurants are abundant.

Noosa National Park

The Noosa National Park, located on the headland beyond Little Cove, is a small coastal park of 382 ha in which birds and small mammals find refuge in the native flora. The bushwalks, beautiful scenery, the string of bays, the noted and swimming surfing beaches and the picnic spots all stand in sharp contrast to the urbanity of the nearby Noosa shopping centre.

Five walking tracks of varying length start from the park entrance at the end of Park Rd where there is an informatiion centre, car park and picnic area.

Facilities in the national park include barbecues, tables, water, cold showers, and toilets. Camping, however, is not permitted in order to protect the nature conservation value of this park.

There are also extensive walking tracks that begin on the inland side and passes through rainforest with many hoop pines and piccabean palms. Track circuits distance ranges from 1km to 4km.

Teewah Beach

There is a ferry at Tewantin which crosses the river and a gravel road leads to Teewah Beach which is famed for its coloured sands. The sandy cliffs, which can be up to 200 m in height, are made up of as many as 72 different coloured sands which have been produced by combinations of iron oxide and leached vegetable dyes. It is likely that the sands have been forming since the last ice age. More poetically, an Aboriginal legend connects their formation to the destruction of a rainbow by a huge boomerang.
