Bellingen’s was founded on the shipping of cedar logs. It experienced a rebirth in the 1970s when as an alternative to city life. Located at the base of the Dorrigo Escarpment in the beautiful Bellinger River Valley, 547Km north of Sydney. Many have stayed on as the cornerstone of a local arts and crafts industry whose wares are displayed in a string of galleries and in the famous Yellow Shed.

A number of the town’s buildings which date back to settlement in 1870 are heritage-classified, including the restored Hammond and Wheatley Emporium and the Old Butter Factory
