10 minute drive from the Queensland border, it sits in the midst of sugar
cane fields and has a working sugar mill as its focal point. Despite its diminutive
size, Condong certainly has a lot going for it as a staging post for a whole
variety of recreational activities.
Mount Warning - a popular place for climbers and bushwalkers - is close by,
as are the delights of the Gold Coast, Murwillumbah, the local horse racing
track, the Tweed River, and a very different and interesting attraction -
the Griffith Furniture Park. The family-owned complex mills its own timber,
which is taken only from dead or dying native trees, and crafts it into superb,
one-off items of furniture
