The
jewel in the Central Coast’s lakes, the Budgewoi, Munmorah and Tuggerah
lakes system spreads over an 80km, just an hour’s drive north from Sydney.
The lagoons are protected from the ocean by a sand peninsula and share a common
ocean outfall at The Entrance. Shark free, the shallow lakes, offer safe, protected
swimming, boating waterskiing, canoeing and sail-boarding. There are prawns
and crabs on offer and, depending on the season and conditions, anglers have
the choice of many popular fishing spots.
The town of Lake Munmorah sits on the northern shoreline and is separated from
the ocean and its surf beaches by Munmorah National Park.
