Just
south of Taree in northern NSW, Tuncurry is a sister town to Forster on the
other side of Macquarie lake.
A commercial fishing fleet operates from here and many of the fishermen are
of Greek and Italian origin, which explains the colourful and exuberant festivities
which surround the annual ‘blessing of the fleet’ in October. There
is an annual Oyster Festival, also held each October.
