A fascinating place to visit attractions include tours through the dugout homes, opal showrooms, and the historic opal fields.
Australia’s
oldest commercial opal field. The name comes from the sole outcrop in which
opals are found. Most inhabitants live underground in dug-outs to beat the
weather changes. The most remarkable find is the 2.6m opalised skeleton of
a plesiosaur, the most complete found and believed to be 100 million years
old.
