Wollongong, NSW

Situated on the coast 80km south of Sydney. This very attractive city built along some beautiful beaches. It is also on the foptsteps of the Illawarra plateau. Heavy industry is the dominant force in the town, but it also has a university that attracts many young people to the area. The universtity has over 3,000 students attending at any one time.

Heavy industry predominates with the country’s klargest steel works around the man made harbour of Port Kembla. Settlers arrived in 1815. A monument marks the first white settlement, a stockman’s hut. Lake Illawarra covers 4200 ha and is used by fishermen, sailors and power boats.
