Daly River, NT
Daly River can be found about 222 km south-west of Darwin by taking a turn-off from the Stuart highway. The township supports a population of 560 people and is a centre for tourism, agriculture and cattle.
The
Daly River itself has an abundance of wildlife, crocodile and barrimundi.
Fishing is one of the most popular visitor attractions in the area - swimming
is not recommended.
Another of the small settlements which grew up around a since vanished telegraph repeater station. It occupies a strategic position on the highway near the junction with the Buchanan highway, which leads to the Victoria River plains, and the Carpentaria Highway, access road to the east.
