Blackwater, in Queensland’s Central Highlands, owes its name not to the black gold (coal) in the region, but to a natural tea-tree which blackened the water in the local billabongs.
The
town has a couple of hotels and clubs, a shopping centre, a swimming pool
and many sporting facilities.
The purpose-built town main aim is to support the coal mining operations nearby.
A short drive away lies the stunning Blackdown Tableland National Park. Blackdown
has beautiful rainforest, waterfalls and creeks and some great views of the
surrouding area.
