Cardwell
is a fishing village, the jump off point to Hinchinbrook , the worlds largest
island national park. Cardwell was regarded as the north Queensland capital
until the faster-growing Townsville took over the honour. Hinchinbrook Island
- the largest island national park in the world, Cardwell remains a thriving
resort centre with superb views over Rockingham Bay.
Sleepy village that was once the only port between Bowen and Somerset. The Cardwell Festival in held in mid August.
