Quiet resort overlooking Keppel Bay with two lovely beaches protected by Great Keppel and smaller islands.
| 45km north-east of Rockhampton, Emu Park is home to The Singing Ship - a distinctive memorial built on a headland over looking Keppel Bay for the Captain James Cook Bi-centenary celebrations of the navigator’s discovery of the bay in May, 1770. The memorial represents the billowing sail, mast and rigging of the Endeavour. Concealed organ pipes use the sea breezes to create eerie music. |
Emu Park has safe bathing beaches, while the Capricorn Coast's major boat
harbour, Rosslyn Bay and its parent resort town of Yeppoon are just 20km north
on the coast-hugging road. The harbour is the access point to the Keppel Bay
Islands and rich fishing grounds. Great Keppel is a popular resort island
offering a broad range of accommodation styles, while Curtis and North Keppel
islands both host national parks.
