A
few kilometres east of Ingham, Macknade is sugar cane country in the shadow
of Hinchinbrook Island . Just offshore are smaller islands with magic names,
like Pelorus, Orpheus and Phantome. Lucinda, and its harbour named Dungeness,
which boasts the world’s longest offshore sugar-loading jetty, is just
a few kilometres away.
Tours of Hinchinbrook Channel. This is a great sports fishing spot and you
can join a charter safari or hire a dinghy.
