Nanango
is located on the D'Aguilar Highway approximately 175 kilometres north-west
of Brisbane. Nanango is the place to try your luck at some gold prospecting.
Visit the Seven Mile Gold Diggings, 11km out of town, where they are still
latching on to the odd trace of alluvial gold. About 24km south-east of Kingaroy,
modern Nanango mainly depends for its livelihood today on beef cattle, beans,
grain and the odd deer farm.
Worth a visit are the Bunya Mountains National Park and the Koomba Falls.
Kingaroy, just up the road, is the 'peanut and baked bean capital' of Australia.
The Benarkin and Nananga state forests offer a variety of off-road and 4WD
tracks.
Small pleasant country town established in 1848. Nanango stages a mardi gras in October and a festival of arts in late December. Agricultural show is in March.
