Pleasant country town, to the west are the Proston garnet fields where fossickers can find gemstones.

About 30km north of Kingaroy, Wondai is at the centre of some extensive gem-fossicking sites in an area best known these days for its peanut and naval bean production. The town boasts its own, museum.

The Boondoona Dam is a popular picnicking and water sports spot to the north-west of Wondai, while the Bjelke-Petersen Dam lies just to the east of town. The Gumnut Place at Murgon, just a few minutes drive to the north, features craft work and collectibles.
