About
40km north-east of Rockhampton, Yeppoon is a gateway to the myriad delights
of the Great Barrier Reef, including Great Keppel Island Resort, just 13km
offshore, and Northwest Island, the largest coral cay on the reef.
Small quiet resort on the Capricorn coast. Byfield State Forest is the home of the Byfield fern. Cooee Bay, Mulambin and Causeway are peaceful little holiday places. A blowhole is at Double Head. Rosslyn Bay Harbour is jumping off point for Great Keppel Island. The Pineapple Festival is held in September.
| Worthy of a visit is Coral Life Marineland, 13km out of town, which has a wonderful display of living coral and marine life. To the south of Yeppoon, especially, there are many beautiful beaches - among them Keppel Sands, Cooee Bay, and Rosslyn Bay. |
