A
number of thoroughbred studs have been established in the region, and their
progeny are making an increasingly significant mark in Australia’s major
yearling sale rings, especially at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast
in January. The annual sale coincides with the Magic Millions racing carnival
which has developed into one of the great sporting/social knees-ups in Australia.
Home of the famous Beaudesert Blue Pumpkin, the town has a large meat processing plant. St Mary’s Church is one of the largest timber churches in the country.
