fringed with inshore reefs. snorkellers can swim to these reefs from the beaches
on Horseshoe, Murray, Greys and Rose Bays.
Mullers
Lagoon is a vast sanctuary for both waterfowl and birdwatchers. Coral trout,
red emperor, sweetlip and other reef varieties are founds on the inshore reefs
of Bowen's most popular and accessible bay beaches. Gem fossickers may be
rewarded with sapphires, amethyst crystals or opalised wood in the hinterland
outcrops and hills round Binbee and Collinsville.
Queens Bay is the main beach and tomato’s are the main industry. Places of interest are the court house, police station and Holy trinity Church. Gem of the Coral Coast Festival in October includes a Blessing of Boats ceremony and a tomato eating contest.
