Inglewood, QLD

Just 270km from Brisbane in the south-western corner of the Darling Downs, the Macintyre Brook town of Inglewood was once little more than a midway inn-stop for coach passengers travelling the route of what is now the Cunningham Highway between Warwick and Goondiwindi.

Twenty kilometres east of the town, the dam is a favourite haunt of boaties, anglers and flocks of pelicans and swans. The creeks and weirs round Inglewoodalso reward the enthusiastic fishermen with catches of yellow-belly, perch, catfish and what the locals claim as some of the finest Murray cod in the land.

Inglewood also services a diverse and thriving rural economy, reflective of the diversity of the shire itself, which includes traditional sheep and cattle grazing, timber milling, extensive irrigated farming of grains, lucerne and horticultural crops and some of the world's best quality export honey
