Palm Beach , QLD
Palm Beach is located just to the north of Currumbin Creek, and is one of the less-developed spots along the perenially popular Gold Coast strip. The surf here is excellent. This section of the coast has been subjected to damage from major storms over the years, and a decision has recently been taken (Jan 2004) to build an artificial reef, which will result in a more stable beach, erosion protection and a bio-diverse underwater environment.
The
boardwalk with its table and chairs and the Andy Frizzell Park are both good
lunch and picnic spots, and the track from Palm Beach to Burleigh Head National
Park to the north is a scenic way to explore the coast.
