The Mount Lindesay Highway village of Rathdowney lies in the Logan River Valley
at the base of the Great Dividing Range. Its rich, river flats have been planted
and grazed since the region was first settled in the mid-19th century, but in
recent years there has been a distinct shift in production emphasis with the
establishment of a number of major thoroughbred studs between Beaudesert and
Rathdowney.
Rathdowney, which is linked to Stanmore and Tenterfield by the scenic highway
drive through the mountains of the border ranges, is within comfortable driving
distance of the hinterland national parks and the Gold Coast. You can also take
the backroad through magnificent bushland to Boonah and to Lake Moogerah in
the Fassifern Valley
