Fifteen
kilometres north of Maitland, Arthurton is a small country town servicing
cereal growers working some of Australia’s richest soils in the state’s
mid-North.
Arthurton might be in the centre of the Yorke Peninsula, but it is less than
half an hour from good fishing spots such as Moonta Bay and Wallaroo on the
Spencer Gulf and Port Clinton and Price on the eastern shores of Gulf St Vincent.
It is a similar drive to the largest local town of Maitland which sits on
a ridge overlooking Spencer Gulf and the Yorke Valley and is at the junction
of roads leading directly to resort and fishing towns on both York Peninsula
coasts.
