Hawker, SA

Hawker is at the junction of roads from Port Augusta, Orroro and Leigh Creek. Hawker is close to Wilpena Pound, the Flinders Ranges National Park, the Moralana scenic loop, Yourambulla Caves, the historic Kanyaka ruins and the Jarvis Hill walking trail and lookout. The Hawker races are staged in May and the annual Art Exhibition in September.

Century old town spawned by the wheat rush and survived because it is on the main road. Ruins of wheat farms dot the landscape. Death Rock is an old ritual site.
