Nuriootpa sits on the banks of the Para - the river which gives its name to the famous liqueur port Seppelt has been producing for generations. Dominated by the family, the Seppelt’s winery with its signature avenue of palms nearby Seppeltsfield is an absolute must on any tour of the local tasting rooms of Elderton, Kaesler, Penfolds, Stockwell and Wolf Blass.
Nuriootpa offers a choice of tranquil riverside parks for a spot of relaxation.
Indeed, the Nurioopta Linear Park presents a delightfully scenic, riverside
walk from Coulthard Reserve in Pentrice Road to Tolley Reserve on the Barossa
Valley Way.
Largest town in the Barossa Valley which contains an interesting mix of old and new and is more bustling than other parts of the valley. Vineyards surround the town including Penfolds and Kaiser Stuhl. Barossa Vintage Festival is held in odd-numbered years during April or May. The valley holds an Oktoberfest, and there is an Essenfest (eating festival) every March.
