Bothwell,
TAS
Gateway to the central highlands where roads from the Derwent Valley, Midlands and Lake Country converge. Wide neat streets result in a town plan drawn up in the 1820s when it was seen that the settlement at the Clyde River crossing could grow into an important town. Although small, Bothwell has 18 buildings classified by the National Trust and boasts Australia’s oldest golf course and the nation’s oldest Presbyterian church. The Highland Golf Championship is held over the Bothwell course in August.
