Campbell Town, TAS

The garrison post grew into a prosperous farming centre and still contains much of its heritage. The Midlands Show, the oldest continuous show in Australia dating back to 1838, is held in June.

The town is situated in an important wool growing district and is located 134 kms from Hobart, and 68 kms from Launceston. Campbell Town, and the Elizabeth River, which runs through it (previously known as Relief Creek), were named by Govenor Macquarie after his wife, Elizabeth Campbell.
