Franklin, Tasmania

Franklin is located in the Hobart region of Tasmania.  The climate can be very cold in Winter with mild summers.  The Derwent River flows through Hobart and Mount Wellington rises above the city in the background.  Visit Salamanca Place, home to artist studios, galleries and some exceptional restaurants. Talk a walk through the past maritime heritage of this waterfront city. Just out of town, visit the world-renowned Port Arthur historic site.

Franklin is located in the Huon Valley, just 35 minutes south of Hobart on the A6 highway. The perfect stop-over on your way to the Tahune Airwalk and Hastings Caves. The town has a number of restaurants, antique and craft shops and the world famous Wooden Boat Centre.

Oldest village in the Huon Valley, straggling along the west bank since 1804. The Franklin/ Geeveston Rowing Regatta is held in December.
