Richmond, Tasmania

Richmond is located in the Hobart region of Tasmania.  The climate can be very cold in Winter with mild summers.  The Derwent River flows through Hobart and Mount Wellington rises above the city in the background.  Visit Salamanca Place, home to artist studios, galleries and some exceptional restaurants. Talk a walk through the past maritime heritage of this waterfront city. Just out of town, visit the world-renowned Port Arthur historic site.

Georgian gem of the south, little changed over a century, with the earliest Catholic church and oldest bridge in Australia. Across the river, St Luke’s is well known for its complex ceiling, a mass of struts and joists which earned the convict responsible his freedom when the building was completed in 1836. Tasmania’s oldest registered motor vehicle, a 1901 car, is to be found in the Bridge Inn museum.
