Taroona, Tasmania


Taroona is located in the Hobart region of Tasmania.  The climate can be very cold in Winter with mild summers.  The Derwent River flows through Hobart and Mount Wellington rises above the city in the background.  Visit Salamanca Place, home to artist studios, galleries and some exceptional restaurants. Talk a walk through the past maritime heritage of this waterfront city. Just out of town, visit the world-renowned Port Arthur historic site. 

The 1870 sandstone 61m shot tower on the tree clad hillside is the town’s best known landmark. The town is reached from Hobart along the winding Channel highway which offers a view across the Derwent River at every turn. Rocky sheer cliffs stretch along the coast to Kingston Beach to from a particularly scenic shore.
