The 1870 sandstone 61m shot tower on the tree clad hillside is the town’s best known landmark. The town is reached from Hobart along the winding Channel highway which offers a view across the Derwent River at every turn. Rocky sheer cliffs stretch along the coast to Kingston Beach to from a particularly scenic shore.
