kilometres east of central Melbourne, lies the township of Cockatoo. From
the 1960s, Cockatoo began to change. Although still the centre for nearby
farming areas, the town became much more suburban. Many people retired to
the peaceful rural village. Improved roads and transport allowed residents
to commute to work in Dandenong or Melbourne
