Daily rail and coach services available from Melbourne. An attractive rural
city located on the Goulburn River, in the rich dairying, fruit growing and
agricultural Goulburn Valley. The town is a popular holiday centre, consisting
of parks and gardens, a large shopping centre and many tourist attractions.
The major city of the Goulburn Valley is noted for its fruit, vegetables, wineries and cereals, while industry takes in canning, light engineering and a foundry. A 30m lookout tower in the city provides views over the irrigated areas. Victoria Lake, just off the river, is used for boating. The Shepparton annual show is held in October.
