Originally a whaling and sealing port, Warrnambool boasts wide lawn lined streets, an art gallery, gem museum, fauna and reptile park, aquarium, old car display, botanic gardens and several museums. There is also an excellent racecourse. The Grand Annual Steeplechase is run here in May. The annual show is held in October.
