- About us
In 1955 the Halls Creek townsite relocated 15kms to the northwest, to less rugged terrain and adjacent to the newly constructed Great Northern Highway. The historical location made it the last stop before stock drovers commenced the long cattle drive along the legendary Canning Stock Route, 2,000kms long
On the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, the site of WA’s first gold rush is derelict and crumbling. The population have moved to a new centre 14km west on the Great Northern highway. Halls Creek is at the northern end of the disused Canning Stock Route, which winds 1400km across the Great Sandy Desert to Wiluna. The agricultural show is held in July.
