The Far North of Western Australia may be remote but with the wide range of
attractions and natural wonders, it makes an exciting area to visit. With five
National Parks to visit, some incredible gorges, diverse flora and fauna and
beautiful unspoilt beaches.
The
remoteness of the area means most of the roads are unsealed, and may be closed
in the wet season, which makes a 4WD the best means of transport.
The former pearling capital of the world is a sleepy town at the end of a mangrove lined peninsula. At very low tide near the base of the cliffs on Gantheaume Point are footprints of a dinosaur which lived 150 millions years ago. Broome’s race week is held in July and the Shinju Matsuri (Festival of the Pearl) is held in August or September.
